Take 0: Who? What? Why?

Who? Hello internet user! My name is Trishala - born and raised in Pune, India, I moved to Los Angeles for college, where I spent 5 wonderful years. I recently moved to NYC and am now living out my Big Apple dream (cues the Kal Ho Na Ho soundtrack). The thumbnail is a picture of me wondering who? what? why? from 15 years ago.

What? This is a weekly newsletter to provide a snapshot of my favorite content from the week - covering everything from the lesser known OTT Indian films to the latest Punjabi Christmas Carols (oh, yes!) to the occasional reminiscent post on Jagjit Singh ghazals. Essentially if you love desi content, I can assure you of an engaging and enjoyable 5 minute read.

And now most importantly - Why? Because Instagram is the only other platform but it is inundated with paparazzi accounts posting airport looks! For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with Indian film (and more recently with television). Throughout, I have struggled to find a platform where there are quality discussions about the arts, without the frivolous gossip about airport looks and dating ‘conjecture’ (although I must admit, I enjoy it in healthy doses - don’t we all?). This is my attempt at creating that space to talk desi content by sharing my thoughts and most importantly, starting a conversation.
